American doubles specialist Nicole Melichar has been having a stellar year on the WTA Tour. She and partner Kveta Peschke won the J & T Banka Prague Open this spring and recently beat world #3 Garbine Muguruza and world #14 Daria Kasatkina to advance to the semis of the Birmingham Classic, propelling Nicole to a career-high doubles ranking of #32 in the world.
This summer, Nicole will play her second season of World TeamTennis for the Washington Kastles, after an eight year absence. Melichar previously played for the St. Louis Aces as a junior in 2010.
We recently sat down with Nicole and talked about a wide range of topics, from who inspired her to play tennis to what she might do if she wasn’t a professional tennis player. Check out what Nicole had to say in this engaging “Kastles in the Spotlight” feature.
