Bob and Mike Bryan had no trouble getting past their quarterfinal opponents in Melbourne Park last night. They defeated the #15 seeds Marcin Matkowski and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, in a mere hour and six minutes, to advance to the semifinals of the 2018 Australian Open Championships.
It was a welcome relief for the six-time champions, who were stretched to three grueling sets in their three previous rounds. They’ve now entered the home stretch of the tournament. With the #2 seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers out of contention, the Bryans have become the favorites to win the bottom half of the draw.
They currently await the winners of the quarterfinal contest between teammate Sam Groth and Lleyton Hewitt and #11 seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, who will play last on Margaret Court Arena TOMORROW, around 2 a.m. EST.
